The
SCPHA (Southern California Professional Horseshow Association) started 2011 out with a two day
SCPHA/AQHA Kick-off Show. On Saturday 01/08 was the reining show and Sunday 01/09 was the Open show series (Western, English, Halter, Trail, and Reining). I wasn't able to attend Saturday's show as I was photographing the AERC endurance horse riders in
Warner Springs but Sunday's event was a great day.
I like to photograph the horse shows but as you can probably tell, I do it in my own way. Sure, images of horses going around the arena and the line-up's in front of the judge are necessary but the best images are the portraits, candids, and lifestyle images. Sometimes, it is not about the riders at all...but rather canines, equines, and pig/pony tails!
